Special Reports

During the IPCC Sixth Assessment Cycle, the Panel will produce three Special Reports. The Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C , and the Climate Change and Land: an IPCC special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems (SRCCL) will be produced under the joint scientific leadership of Working Groups I, II and III. The Special Report on Oceans and the Cryosphere will be produced under the joint scientific leadership of Working Groups I and II.

WG III will provide logistical support for the production of SRCCL.

Climate Change and Land: an IPCC special report on climate change, desertification, land degradation, sustainable land management, food security, and greenhouse gas fluxes in terrestrial ecosystems (SRCCL)

SRCCL scoping meeting for the report was held in Dublin from the 13th to the 16th of February 2017.

We currently anticipate that SRCCL will be finalized in September 2019.

Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation (SRREN)

The Special Report on Renewable Energy Sources and Climate Change Mitigation, published in 2014, assesses the scientific literature on the potential role of renewable energy in the mitigation of climate change for policymakers, the private sector, academic researchers and civil society. It covers six renewable energy sources – bioenergy, direct solar energy, geothermal energy, hydropower, ocean energy and wind energy – as well as their integration into present and future energy systems.
